Mount Ruapehu
DESCRIPTION
I borrowed a 102 megapixel, large format camera for the week and the first place I thought about photographing with it was this area on the central plateau of the North Island. The most popular walk/hike here is the Tongariro Circuit but this track up around the Tama Lakes is just as breath-taking in my opinion. It was one of the coldest mornings I’ve ever photographed in. Despite having high quality winter gloves on, my fingers were throbbing from the cold and my eyes were watering. I found a view that I liked, set up the camera and got snapping. This is my favourite shot from the morning and the start of my love affair with this area. I went back four more times over the next 2 months.
Photos printed on high quality Epson Lustre photo paper.
